About Our Tours

At Bright Angel Bicycles we have a love for Grand Canyon. We have ran the river thru the heart of the canyon, we have hiked the trails from rim to rim and have traveled out of the way to see remote hidden treasures in the Grand Canyon such as waterfalls. If its Grand Canyon, we're all about it. We have been guiding park visitors for 10 years now, and love to share our connection with this land. We are pleased to begin a new guiding service in the National Park Service, and to bring added sustainability to the canyon.

Our guided tours are a great way to learn more about Grand Canyon. We take you riding along the historic Hermits Rest road. This road, originally built by the Santa Fe railroad winds along the canyons rim for miles and boasts some of the grandest views on the South Rim. This is the best scenic ride to do in the west, and the safest for families wanting to explore.

We begin the5.6 mile (9k) tour at Hopi point, one of the best east- west views of the canyons "inner gorge".  Hopi point is a great place to  start a discussion about the ancient peoples of Grand Canyon and Northern Arizona. The canyon has long been a sacred place to these peoples and continues to be  into modern times.

After leaving Hopi point we ride along breathtaking views for  1.8 miles (2.8K). As we approach the  the "Abyss" you will start  to appreciate how big this canyon really is. The "Abyss" provides an opportunity to better understand Grand Canyons geology. As we  look out across the vastness, our guides will interpret the impressive geologic forces at work here.

From the "Abyss" we will make the 2.7 mile(4.3K) ride to Pima point. We will take a break here and enjoy the views. Pima is a great spot for photos and to learn more about the flora and fauna that makes Grand Canyon so diverse.

Upon leaving Pima Point we will complete the last section of the ride along the "greenway" trail a distance of 1.1 miles(1.7K).  Along the way we can stop to enjoy some of the pull outs, and catch truly un crowded view points.

As we complete the ride,  you will be impressed at the architecture of the "Hermits Rest" (name sake of the road), finished in 1914 by architect Mary Jane Colter. She wanted visitors to get the feeling of an old "hermit" living in a ramshackle structure next to the canyons rim. We think she did a great job, but don't take our word for it- come see for yourself.
